[Fort Smith, AR, July 1, 2018—] Future School founder, Trish Flanagan, is launching the Think Future Foundation to grow Future School’s early success at bringing new learning approaches to Fort Smith and the region. In two years the school has grown enrollment 100%, added over 100 businesses to the internship program and recently earned a “B” on the 2016-2017 state report card. Flanagan, with the support of community partners and investors, is working to create tools and secure funding to sustain and grow the school’s mission. Says Flanagan, “We see an opportunity to achieve financial sustainability more expeditiously and expand our mission to create access for all students via a strategic foundation.”
The faculty and facilities of Future School continue to grow as well. Current principal, Boyd Logan, will serve as superintendent; Allison Montiel, teacher, nurse and community outreach coordinator, will serve as principal-in-residence; and Patrick Boze has joined the school leadership, serving as Development Director. The school welcomes Bud Hamley, Lindsey Swanigan, Christie Larey, and Dr. Patrick Belk to the teaching/advising team. Renovations of the 1944 historic building including the addition of four classrooms and a commercial kitchen will be completed for the start of school on August 15.
